Roy Young & Sonja Jacob

 

 

 

 

 

A dynamic performance of R&B, gospel and soul music, including the hits of Ray Charles, Frank Sinatra and Etta James and starring the  legendary
singer Roy Young and the singer-saxophonist Sonja Jacob.

This show will take place on both nights of the Festival, with three performances
each evening. Between them, we will enjoy the music of DJ Amir Cohen of FM radio station 103.

 

Originally from Jamaica, Roy Young is an internationally-known rhythm-and-blues singer who recorded his latest album, Memphis, with the Tommy Boy recording company in New York. He has taken the stage in auditoriums around the world and has participated in the New Orleans Jazz Festival, the Long Beach Soul Festival (Los Angeles), in the Montego Bay Soul Festival (Jamaica), and the Red Sea Festival in Eilat. He has also performed in Europe, from Russia and Germany to Italy and England.

Sonja Jacob

Sonja Jacob was born in Switzerland to musical parents. She writes and arranges songs, sings, and plays the saxophone with unique style and colour. She founded Bella Donna, an almost-mythological group that has appeared in Israel, at the Montreux Jazz Festival, and at other venues abroad.  She performs with many other artists, among them Dafna Armoni and Shalom Hanoch.
